Sherie Thomas

Executive Director

With nearly two decades of experience in building, managing, and securing funding for impactful programs, Sherie Thomas is a dedicated and passionate advocate. As the Director of Outreach & Engagement at the Justice & Accountability Center of Louisiana since February 2021, she brings her extensive expertise as an executive officer and business strategist to ensure positive change.

Under Thomas' leadership, the Justice & Accountability Center has achieved notable milestones. She spearheaded the establishment of the largest nationally impacted solitary council, paving the way for improved conditions for inmates. Additionally, she played a key role in passing the New Endings and Opportunities expungement technology bill, empowering individuals to overcome past convictions. Thomas also championed the Fair Chance Baton Rouge ordinance, promoting equal opportunities for all.

Beyond her role at the Justice & Accountability Center, Thomas actively contributes to social justice causes. She serves as the Medical Task Force Chair of the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison Reform Coalition, showcasing her commitment to improving healthcare within the system. She is also recognized as an Expert Advisor to the East Baton Rouge Parish Medical RFP Advisory Committee and as a Commissioner of the North Baton Rouge Blue Ribbon Commission.

With an undergraduate degree in Business System Analysis, Thomas brings both knowledge and practical skills to her work. She resides in Donaldsonville with her partner Harold, son Maurice, and beloved pet, Eli.
