We recognize the importance of protecting the privacy of all information provided by users of our Web site, registrants for our events, recipients of our newsletters and all of our customers. We created this policy with a fundamental respect for our users’ right to privacy and to guide our relationships with our users. This privacy statement discloses the privacy practices of JAC. We collect information from our Web site users, event participants and customers. Below, we will describe the type of information we collect and how we use it.

Use of our Site indicates that you agree with the Terms stated below. We reserve the right to update our policies and these Terms, and recommend that you review this page periodically. Your continued use of this Site after any change or update will constitute your acceptance of the updated Terms.

Privacy Policy

We collect information that you provide when you subscribe to receive regular updates about JAC's work, provide a donation, or in any other way register on our site, such as your name and/or email address. Additionally, a cookie is a text file placed on your hard disk by a web page server to track your web use habits. JAC may use cookies and other technologies to enhance your online experience and to learn about how you use the JAC website in order to improve the quality of our services. JAC automatically receives and records information on our server logs from your browser, including your IP address, any JAC cookie information, and the page you request. If you prefer not to receive cookies while browsing the Site, you can set your browser accordingly (although you may not be able to take full advantage of the Site if you do so).

When you use our app to submit data related to an expungement, we will store that data along with a unique identifier for your device to ensure that we can keep track of your submission and process it accurately.

We use the information you provide to learn about who uses our Site and to send information that you request or that we believe will interest you based on your previous requests, such as information about upcoming events. If you wish to unsubscribe, you can do so at any time by following the “unsubscribe” link included in each such communication.

We do not sell, transfer, or otherwise disclose your personal information to third parties for commercial purposes, and do our best to protect it from loss, misuse, and alteration.

We may provide your personal information to trusted partners who work on behalf of or with JAC to help communicate with you about JAC’s work, upcoming events, and collaborations between JAC and other organizations. We require that these parties agree to process such information based on our instructions and in compliance with appropriate confidentiality and security measures.

This Site is operated in the United States.  If you are located outside the U.S., please be aware that any information you provide to us will be transferred to and processed in the U.S. By using the Site, you consent to same.

Registration and Ordering

When participating in our events, using some aspects of our Web site and signing up for certain selected services users must first register. During registration, users are required to give their contact information (such as name, e-mail address, mailing address and phone number). We use this information to communicate with users and provide requested services and/or information.

For our products/services that require payment, we also collect credit card information (such as account name, number and expiration date), which is used for billing purposes only, and is not otherwise shared.

Email Newsletter

If users wish to subscribe to our free email newsletter, we ask for contact information (such as name and email address). We use this information in the same manner as we use contact information in the registration and ordering process described above. Recipients of our e-newsletter can unsubscribe using the instructions listed at the end of the email newsletter.

We may now or in the future allow the submission to the Site of stories, communications, or other materials by users. Please note that such submissions must comply with the terms of submission set forth on the Site or otherwise provided to you in connection with your submission.

All material contained on the Site is owned by JAC or its licensors. Other than the limited license to access the Site per these Terms, no other license or rights are granted to you in any intellectual property of JAC or any third party.

Disclaimer of Warranty and Liability

JAC does not make any express or implied warranties, representations, or endorsements whatsoever in connection with the Site, other websites, or the Internet generally (including, without limitation, warranties regarding the security of any information, or warranties of title or non-infringement, or the implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose). You understand that, except for information, products, or services clearly identified as being supplied by JAC, JAC does not review, operate, or control any material, information, products, or services on the Site or on the Internet, including electronic transmissions from users or materials connected to the Site through links, in any way. Unless otherwise indicated, photographs on the Site do not depict individuals or locations discussed. Photographs are chosen solely for aesthetic reasons. Other than that, the people in these pictures have no connection to JAC, or any of the topics discussed on the Site. Although we intend to take reasonable steps to prevent the introduction of viruses, worms, “Trojan Horses,” or other destructive items to our Site, we do not guarantee or warrant that our Site is free from such features.

In no event shall JAC be liable for any injury, loss, claim, damage, or any direct, indirect, special, incidental, or consequential damages arising out of or in any way connected with this Site, or any failure or delay in updating or including any materials on the Site, or any use of or inability to use any materials on the Site, or your use of, access to, submission of, or reliance on any materials on the Site, or any damages or harm to computer systems arising from your use of the Site, even if JAC has been advised of the possibility of such damages. (Some states do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties or the limitation or exclusion of liability for incidental and consequential damages, so the above exclusions may not apply to you. In such jurisdictions, JAC’s entire liability and your exclusive remedy with respect to your use of the Site will not exceed $100).
