MCLEs: Leverage Your Civil Practice Skills to Reduce Collateral Consequences of Incarceration
The First 72+, JAC, SLLS, and OPD have launched a NEW legal clinic serving formerly incarcerated people in Orleans and Jefferson parishes. The third Thursday evening of each month, we gather pro bono attorneys to meet with individuals re-entering our community to provide advice and counsel on civil legal issues including child support modifications, filiation, consumer debt, collections, and tax liabilities.

The objective of our second CLE, "Successful Re-Entry: Addressing Legal Needs for People After Incarceration," is to orient pro bono attorneys to the criminal justice system, the most pressing issues faced by those returning from incarceration, and the importance of case documentation and note taking in a collaborative clinic. We invite pro bono attorneys who can either commit to participate in at least one clinic or can take a case through the LSBA's Modest Means panel to attend this CLE.
