Kevin Dalcourt

Paralegal

Kevin is JAC’s Paralegal that provides day-to-day support for all aspects of the legal team’s current and prospective cases, under the supervision of the Legal Director.

Kevin is a formerly incarcerated person (FIP). He served 9 years of a 10 year sentence in custody of the Louisiana Department of Corrections and was convicted by a Non-unanimous jury verdict of 10 to 2. While incarcerated in the State, Kevin completed Blackstone Paralegal Courses and received certificates in: Paralegal Studies, Civil Litigation, and Torts & Personal Injury. He also received certificates from Tulane Law Clinic for legal writing, postconviction and Federal Habeas Corpus and a certificate from the Louisiana Department of Corrections for continuing education. At Elayn Hunt Correctional, He worked as an Inmate Counsel where his duties were assisting fellow inmates with their legal issues. Kevin was in the custody of The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) for 23 months where he worked as a Law Library Clerk where he assisted fellow Federal inmates with their legal issues.

Before incarceration Kevin owned several businesses in the Lafayette area: Papa’s Chicken Shack Restaurant, Shack Attack Daiquiris/Snowballs, Papa’s Catering, Chateau Realty Group and Kevin Dalcourt’s Tax service.

Kevin has been married to his wife Tamiko Dalcourt for over 27 years. They are parents to Kevin Raymond Dalcourt. They live in Lafayette, Louisiana

Kevin has expressed excitement to join JAC and has a passion for assisting to further the mission to work to eliminate obstacles to opportunities for people harmed by systemic racism and the economic impact of the criminal legal system.
